Mercedes-Benz goes face-to-face with Facebook:

Mercedes-Benz in Ireland has fastened on to the importance of social media with their arrival on Facebook and the launch of their new interactive movie Drive & Seek, which went live just days ago. The move is being made in anticipation of new model introductions yet to come when Facebook is expected to play an important role in appealing to a new generation of younger drivers for whom forthcoming models like the new A-Class will have a particular appeal. To celebrate their Facebook debut, a six weeks long competition is being run for which the prize is a trip to Stuttgart, home of three-pointed-star. There, the entertainment will include a visit to the award-winning Mercedes-Benz museum where all of the iconic cars of yesteryear are displayed. Other attractions awaiting the lucky winner include a visit to the renowned Stuttgart Christmas Market. Commenting, Mercedes-Benz sales manager in Ireland, Ciaran Allen said ‘ever since 1886, Mercedes-Benz has been using latest technology in appealing to new generations of car owners. Our entry on to Facebook is but another step in that process.”

Kia Motors Ireland announce all new Rio Prices and Specs

Kia Motors Ireland have announced the prices and specs of the All New Rio Range which will go on sale in Ireland towards the end of October. There will be two model trims for Rio in Ireland, LX and EX. The entry level LX at €15,295 is powered by a 1.25 petrol engine which is A rated for annual road tax whilst the EX model will be available in both the 1.25 petrol and 1.4 diesel (also A rated) at €16,495 and €17,895 respectively. Like all Kia models the new Rio will of course come with Kia’s unbeatable 7 year warranty. The new Rio is one of the company’s most anticipated launches in recent years and attendees at the 2011 National Ploughing Exhibition had an opportunity to preview the car before its launch in late October 2011. The new model is longer, wider and lower, and features a wheelbase extended by 70 mm – greatly enhancing passenger space and cargo capacity. With an overall height of 1,455 mm, the new Rio has one of the lowest rooflines in Kia’s European product range, emphasising its purposeful stance. Standard safety equipment features 6 airbags (including side curtain airbags), ESC electronic stability control, HAC hill-start assist control, and ‘active’ front seat head restraints to protect against whiplash injury in a rear impact. For additional safety, an ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) system is standard. Sensors detect when the driver is braking suddenly and hard, and then flash the brake lights three times to alert following drivers that the car is slowing rapidly. In addition to the enhanced space and safety New Rio customers will enjoy audio comfort features such as Bluetooth, remote audio controls and iPod compatibility.
